Sri Yantra
About the Art
The yantra is a geometrical diagram from the Tantric tradition and translates approximately to “instrument which releases from bondage.” There are many different types of yantras, and one of the most well-known is the Sri Yantra.
The Sri Yantra embodies shakti, the movement of form, or flow, and is a powerful symbol to facilitate moving forward in life. It is commonly used in prayer or focused meditation.
The Sri Yantra is also known to support spiritual liberation. It can be used to assist in transcending what one seeks to move beyond.
The Sri Yantra contains nine interlocking triangles which form 43 triangles in total. The four upward triangles represent Shiva, and the five downward triangles represent Shakti. In the middle of the central triangle is a bindu, representing pure consciousness and the original state of being.
